Russian Dolls: Marina Never Looked Better

The world pretty much knows that I am not a Marina "fan" and my guilty pleasure has been to take pot shots at her whenever the opportunity has presented itself...and she has given me plenty of opportunities.  But today, as I look at Michael's facebook page and the picture he posted of Marina, I have to say she has never looked better.  Maybe all those tweets about going to the gym and doing zumba classes for her brother's wedding paid off?  She does look like she lost some weight.  She says this is her fall "look."  I think it agrees with her.  The darker colors are very complimentary as is her new hair color.  Now all kidding aside, and try to be objective, don't you think this is a new and improved look for Marina?   

Russian Dolls: Latest News On Marina!

In two weeks Marina's brother is getting married!  We learned this from Marina's twitter account.  Congratulations to the lovely couple.  What does this mean for Marina?  More cake?  Very true.  But, Marina tweets that she needs to lose 7 to 9 pounds for the wedding that will take place two weeks from now.  How will she do it?  Dieting, going to the gym and ZUMBA class.  I think Lifetime should have filmed more of Marina exercising and less of her eating. 

Who thinks Marina will get down to her goal weight in 2 weeks?  Sorry Marina, but I do not.

Russian Dolls: Materialistic Beyond Words!

Here we go again!  I barely wake up and check my emails and then see what's new on Russian Dolls to blog about.  It's been a long weekend with not much happening.  Somehow I know that if I check Marina's twitter she will have tweeted something to get a rise out of me, and she has.  So I copied it here for everyone else to see before I express my two cents.

I have never seen anyone as materialistic as Marina Levitis.  This trait is very unappealing to say the least.  She tweets that she loves Kim k's engagement ring and then leaps to the idea that hers needs "upgrading" because soon she will be married 15 years.  I don't know about you, but there seems to be something lacking here.  I think most women have some sentimentality attached to the ring they were given by their husbands in contemplation of marriage.  So what if the stone is smaller than what you can afford today, it was the best he could do at the time.  It's the ring that you received when you accepted his proposal. It's supposed to be special and have some emotional attachment to it.  But, not for Marina.  It's always all about bigger and better and outdoing someone else.  It's sickening.

It's not like she doesn't have tons of jewelry already.  She probably has more than she can wear.  It's all about amassing gems and bragging about what you have and flaunting it as much as possible.  It's not about the memory of when you got the jewelry or the moment it represents in your life for her.  Every occasion is another excuse to buy more jewelry. 

When I look at my jewelry, it's like looking at a photo album.  Every piece, except the ones I purchased for myself, represents an occasion and a special person in my life.  I look at my engagement ring and remember the day my husband proposed.  I look at my wedding band and remember our vows.  I look at the diamond tennis bracelet and know it was for our 20th anniversary.  I have a set of birthstone earrings and pendant that my husband gave me on my 40th birthday.  I would never dream of "upgrading" any of my memories for new and improved items.  That, to me is crass and tasteless.  And in the end, that is exactly the impression and message that Marina sends out.

Russian Dolls: Cindy Adams + Two Dolls



Equals an interesting conversation! Too bad one of the “dolls” is Marina. In an interview over tea, Cindy talks with Renata and Marina from Russian Dolls. Renata, always very ladylike, is in sharp contrast to the ever obnoxious and complaining Marina. Renata explains how the community of Brighton Beach became populated with Russian immigrants, much like many of the neighborhoods in NYC. New York City is known for its ethnic communities where immigrants stick together and try to keep their customs and traditions from their native countries alive.

Marina tries to justify her own obnoxiousness by saying it’s a trait of all Russian women who were being treated like second class citizens in Russia and are now asserting themselves. However, Renata, who is also from Russia never displays this trait, instead she manages to remain pleasant and conduct herself professionally and with class. Marina takes credit for supplying the show with all its cast members, except one, who she hates. Now that’s a big surprise! She claims her husband talked her into doing the show because it would be good for business (INSERT EYE ROLL!) I do not believe that for one second. In the end of the interview, Marina seizes one last opportunity to “zing” Sveta. Frankly, I cannot wait for the episode to air, so I can see who behaved the worst. Shall we take bets?
